In March 1925 filmmaker Max Goddard embarked on an expedition to the El Triunfo mine high in the Sierra Madre Chiapas Mountains in Mexico. None of the party members returned.
Three months later government soldiers captured a group of rebels, who were found to be in possession of some movie film canisters. The rebels claim to have found them in the region of the El Triunfo mine and claimed to know nothing of the missing expedition. Much of the film had been damaged by exposure to light and the elements, but some was salvaged and developed by Mr P. Hardy Esq.
